Hello everyone! How often have you been in a channel, and a debate starts up, but a staff member ends it, just as it's starting to get interesting? Or maybe you have been looking for some people to talk with, and everyone you find in many of the usual chat channels seem to be idiots? Well, now there's two channels devoted to intellectual discussion.

Welcome to #Debate and #Debates, a new set of channels specifically for talking about topics that many people consider to strong, and do not allow, for fear of flaming. These channels each have a different topic which explains the current describe that week's debate. Everyone is welcome to join, as long as you are willing to respect everyone. Flaming (As in constant insulting, and refusal to listen to the Operators, or logic) will result in a kick, and if repeated, a ban.

Our rules are as follows, and held to very closely.

Stay on topic, please respect channel staff, disrespect will result in kicks, and bans, understand that everyone gets their own opinion. Please do not use scripts in this channel. Bots are not allowed either. Try to use proper grammar and spelling as well. It makes it easier to get your point across. Please understand that the discussions held in this channel are meant to be respectful, and thought out. If you do not understand a topic, please ask someone, and or do some research on it. Also, the staff in these channels have their own opinions, and do not have to state them publicly. They are there to make sure the debates stay clean, and that everyone stays on topic. If you think someone is being rude about a topic, bring it up with a staff member.

Staff List:

Notice! We are currently looking for staff members. If you are interested, please post here, or say /ms send #Debate <Message here> and tell us. You must be active in the debates, and show you can be polite before we will even consider making you staff. You will be approached if we decide to make you staff, so please do not constantly ask us if you have been accepted, because this will only lower your chances.

Owners:
  • Seth_Malcom_Noob
  • `Jt

    Admins:
  • Matty_`

    Operators:
    None at this time

    Half-Op:
  • Ralphy
  • Oblet
  • Uphold

This week's #Debates are "Should Marijuna use be legalized?" in #Debate and "Should abortion be illegal?" in #Debate.

Idling is allowed in these channel, but it is strongly suggested you participate at times. If you have any ideas for new debates, please feel free to post them here!

Thanks, and hope to hear lots of discussion. :D

Why are there two debate channels...why not just merge into one?

There's two, because I figured that some people would not want to discuss some topics, and so with two channels, there can be twice the discussion. Besides, one topic at a time could get boring. :p

This week's #Debates are "Should Marijuna use be legalized?" in #Debate and "Should abortion be illegal?" in #Debate.

Hope to see you in there.

I'm sorry to hear that. The staff members have been asked to use their BNC when possible in the channels, so they might not have been on at all. I just want them to be able to see the logs and such, in case something happens.

Also, we've added our own bot to the channel, and are working on some other things, trying to get it all perfect. We're probably going to be a little behind on the new debates and such, until that is cleared up. Everyone is free to join and continue debating, but the channels might do some funny things. We promise not to test out any scripts on people, unless they volunteer. :p

Hope everyone is having lots of fun on IRC, and checks out these channels!

Actually they don't even understand proper structure in creating their arguements.

The average intelligence is nill, while the average access ***** behavior is rampant.

I strongly suggest a well known user advertise and back this channel after you combine them into one.

Debates via IRC or other chat programs do not work.
Why? cause to have a proper debate you will need proper arguments and explain them.
With typing nearly everyone is too lazy for that
